Living a Creative Life

For several years, I served as a member of the board for Calgary Arts Development Authority (CADA), the civic arts funder in Calgary, Alberta. In Canada, the arts are funded by the so-called “tri-level” funders representing civic, provincial, and federal bodies. In our region the tri-level are: Calgary Arts Development, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and the Canada Council for the Arts. The groups work together to support artists and arts programs. In my time with CADA, I was constantly impressed by how hard the people in these organizations work to serve artists and society. Shortly after I joined the board, I was elected Chair of Public Policy and Strategy, and served with a group of dedicated staff , and other board members to promote the arts and secure funding for artists and the arts in our city.
